What is E-Invoicing in France?

E-invoicing in France means issuing, sending, and receiving invoices in a structured electronic format, allowing automatic processing and real-time reporting to tax authorities.

Under the mandate, invoices must be submitted via a certified Plateforme d’Accréditation (PA)

Accepted formats include:

  • Factur-X (hybrid PDF + XML)

  • UBL

  • CII

Real-time data reporting is required for both e-invoicing and e-reporting scenarios.

When Will It Be Mandatory?

The original July 2024 deadline has been postponed. The updated rollout is:

  • 1 September 2026

    • Required for large and mid-sized businesses

    • All businesses – regardless of size – must be able to receive electronic invoices

  • 1 September 2027

    • Mandatory for small and medium-sized enterprises

Even if you're not issuing e-invoices until 2027, you must be ready to receive them by September 2026.
